Invisalign® is an innovative way to straighten your teeth and improve bite issues without the use of metal braces. Using a system of clear plastic aligners that are virtually invisible to other people, Invisalign® allows you to go about your daily life while inconspicuously improving the alignment of your teeth. Custom-designed for comfortable wear, the Invisalign® aligners are also easily removable for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. These “clear braces” can be great options for many patients, and they are available right here at Preferred Family Dental.
Benefits of Invisalign®
The functional and aesthetic drawbacks of traditional metal braces and wires can cause patients to feel self-conscious every time they smile. Invisalign® was created to address tooth misalignment, unevenly spaced teeth, overbite/underbite, and crossbite concerns with a treatment that prioritizes both patient comfort and aesthetics. The benefits of Invisalign® include:
- Clear plastic aligners that are nearly undetectable
- Optimized results with individually custom-made aligners
- A reduced treatment period compared to traditional braces
- Convenient, removable aligners to maintain oral hygiene and simplify eating
- Fewer office visits due to maintenance
Invisalign® Procedure
Once your candidacy has been determined for Invisalign®, one of our doctors will make a three-dimensional model of your teeth. These models are used to create sets of clear plastic aligners that are custom-designed and sent home with each patient. Invisalign® works by using a series of aligners: each set adjusts the positioning of the teeth over a period of about two weeks before moving onto the next set, which is slightly modified from the one before it. This progressive system allows for gradual realignment to straighten teeth, eliminate crowding, and close any spaces or gaps. The exact length of treatment will vary from patient to patient depending on the individual degree of misalignment and the cosmetic goals of the patient. A typical Invisalign® treatment takes approximately one year to complete, though some patients achieve optimal results in as little as six months.
